The revision of the Energy Taxation Directive forms part of a group of policy reforms to deliver on this increased ambition for 2030 and should focus on environmental issues. Taxation is a vital policy instrument to steer behaviours towards the right objectives. In this context, it will support the transition towards a climate neutral economy while also helping to bring additional public revenues for the recovery from the pandemic.
